Over 400 UW classified workers do not make the Madison living wage and over 900 make under $15 an hour. The typical Wisconsin state employee has taken a 22% wage cut in the past six years. Graduate student workers have seen a take-home pay decrease of 15.2% since 2002.
An embarrassingly high number of campus employees don't make a living wage!
The University has money for building expansions, more deans, new facilities, but not workers? It's time to invest in the workers of this campus.
Join members of the graduate student workers' union (the TAA, AFT Local 3220), the blue collar workers' union (AFSCME 171) and the faculty and academic staff's union (UFAS, AFT Local 223) as well as Wisconsin Wave for a rally and march to the Chancellor's Office to "trick or treat" for a raise for all campus employees.
