Welcome the Legislature back to the Capitol!

Date: September 13, 2011 - 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Location

Wisconsin State Capitol
State St. and Capitol Square
Madison, WI

On Tuesday, September 13th our esteemed state legislature will resume business after two and a half months of much needed rest and relaxation. After all it must have been hard work rolling back 100 years of progress in just 5 short months!

Think about all they accomplished: The draconian cuts to K-12/higher education, environmental protection, and vital social services like badger care, food share, and senior care. The stripping of hard working public employees' right to collectively bargain while forcing them to pay more for health insurance/pensions and demonizing them in the media. Changing the law to make it harder for people to vote while making it easier for big banks to take over credit unions and big behemoth brewers to crush small delicious ones. And let's not forget passing tax cuts, tax breaks, and tax credits for some of the wealthiest businesses and mulch-national corporations in our community. And all of this while having to ignore the pesky 200K+ Wisconsinites who showed up to demand a very different agenda!

Arrive at 5:00 to defend tenants' rights and stop the attack on Wisconsinites access to affordable and equitable housing, then join the Wisconsin Wave in letting the legislature and those who fund them know that while they've been on vacation we've been getting ready for the next stage of the fight to take back our state!
